First impressions and suggestions for improvements and optimization.

    So far the site is pretty slick. It had my name wrong but I was able to get logged in and edit it which is nice. Fairly intuitive there.

    Here’s a few things I came up with for optimizations.

    1) I noticed that the “Resources” tab is hidden on the Members Only side. I believe it should be on the public facing side not needing a login so anyone can go there and get resources for the help they need.

    2) Gallery is similarly on the Members Only side. I’m not sure if this is by design not to scare off people prematurely with pics of us or an oversight. Personally I think having it on the public facing side would allow people to see a bit more of us and what we’re about.

    3) “Upcoming Events” is only available on the outside page, before you log in. It’s actually harder to locate the event once logged in. It should be at the top on both sides.

    4) Perhaps add an option to have our road names display by default in the forum. I know I’m going to have a heck of a time going back and forth trying to figure out who all is who. Also a little avatar icon space could be good, maybe for a headshot so we can readily put a mug with the post.

    5) The list of resources is quite long and things might get missed. One suggestion would be to break them up into sub categories such as Crisis, Veterans Services, Housing, Financial, Medical, etc. in order to avoid excessive scrolling. Hyperlinks to the charities would also be helpful. I spot checked the first 3 and they didn’t have a link to the site despite there being one.

    6) The window for Members List is too narrow to display all of the information but it only takes up 1/3 of the screen. Instead of the scroll bar can we make the list itself wider?

    7) Move road name by the legal names in the Members List, either in front of, behind or in between first/last name with ” “s

    8) I tried to add a screenshot of the width thing described above but while it’ll allow me to paste it into the window just fine it will not let me actually post it once I click Submit. Not sure if we want the ability to add images to forum posts.

    9) In addition to Donate we could add a small store area for merch. Should help bring in extra money for the store. Ability to pay dues for the member side would be nice as well.

    That’s all I found so far. I’ll keep poking at it.

    I’m checking in to this; I like the ideas.  We’ll just have to see what it takes to implement them.
